This was a team work wherein we documented a lesser known village in Karaikal, Tamilnadu namely, Thooduponamoolai. The different aspects of history of the place, occupation and livelihood, visual aspects of the village, housing and structural details were documented in order to gain a holistic understanding of the state of affairs of the village. Based on these details, individual structural proposals and urban level ideas were exchanged and arrived at to locate issues on hand and proposals to try and rectify the same.
On an individual level, a proposal for a community centre was submitted from my side as there were not many well-equipped centres for social interaction and functions in the village which could accommodate a wide range of events and functions. The proposal aimed at introducing a common community bonding space which has improved functionality and design space usage that conforms to the vernacular design language of the village.
