I returned to my city of Madras (Chennai), India for my holidays after two plus years of not having been back home. I love my city immensely and wanted to show folks the beauty, local culture and the architectural goldmine it is through art. However, given the fact that I was really low on time, I couldn’t make bigger scale live-sketches like I usually do. So, this time around, I decided on work on a tiny scale with cut-out live sketches of places I love, new haunts, and locations that I have personal tales associated with. This passion project explores the little things that make this city special and is an exploration of my artistic pursuits intersecting with my love for a socio-cultural commentary through architecture.
This series became immediately talked about locally that about ten days into it, I had a local newspaper wanting to feature the work and myself. This series of 50 mini-sketches is really special to me as it had me pushing the boundaries of how I make art.
