SPECIAL ARTIST | MIX BHANGRA EVENT | CLEVELAND MUSEUM OF ART
Bhangra has a rich history as one of India’s most joyous dances. This monthly CMA event was set to celebrate this rich, beautiful, and vibrant spirit of the high-energy Punjabi music infused with hip-hop. I was invited by CMA to design and lead the art experience for the event, and I road-tripped my way from Columbus to Cleveland one fine Friday afternoon.
I had designed a collaborative community painting creation of a vibrant Bhangra dance scene and invited the folks attending the event to take part in the painting. With two museum art assistants, it was pretty great to see how the whole process turned out into a fun, large painting that I later on finished after closing out community participation. Live painting has been one of my most favorite things to do, and if you want me doing that at one of your events, drop me an email and we’ll get that stuff rolled out. :)
